Textile Engineering roadmap

Fiber science, spinning, weaving, dyeing and textile automation.

Start with Textile Foundations & Fibres, follow the steps in order, then build a project, prepare for interviews and earn your certificate.

Foundations

  1. Textile Foundations & Fibres — From molecules to fibres. The textile value chain, fibre types and identification, stress basics and the science of fibre properties.
  2. Yarn & Fabric Manufacturing — Spin, weave, knit, bond. Spinning systems, count and twist, weaving, knitting and nonwovens with GSM and cover factor design.

Core skills

  1. Wet Processing & Colour — Colour and function. Diffusion theory behind dyeing, pretreatment, dyeing, printing, finishing, drying and effluent management.
  2. Testing & Quality Control — Measure the variability. Descriptive statistics, quality statistics and SPC, and textile testing of fibres, yarns, fabrics and colour.

Advanced

  1. Technical & Smart Textiles — Performance textiles. Filtration, geotextiles, composites, protective and medical textiles, and e-textiles.
  2. Apparel & Sustainability — Garments made responsibly. Work study, line balancing, garment manufacturing, and life-cycle assessment for sustainable, circular textiles.
